Your Research Focus:
We are seeking a bachelor student to conduct a literature review that will support this international research collaboration between the University of Münster (Chair for Wirtschaftsinformatik, Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke), Hasso-Plattner Institute, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The thesis will examine:
• How startups design digital products to enable rapid scaling
• The role of digital infrastructures (APIs, data platforms, modular systems) in scaling product usage
• The influence of affordances and UX design on user acquisition, retention, andgrowth loops
• How different scaling mechanisms are conceptualized in IS literature
Who should apply?
• You study Information Systems, Business or Computer Science
• Have a keen interest in digital startups, platforms, or product design
• Bring previous experience in tech startups or product management (optional but a strong plus)

The thesis addresses the automated use of open finance data for the data-based, AI-supported extension of existing advisory processes. The focus is on the integration of new data sources (e.g. PSD2, FIDA) into operational business operations with noticeable efficiency gains. The thesis is thus directly aimed at optimising and redesigning business processes through AI, in the sense of future-proof, scalable existing customer advice.
